Just to keep things moving on the blog post front, I thought I'd share a couple of useful tools that I use regularly during my working day. Here are a couple of handy programs that are simple, yet very useful:
- Colour picker - a simple eyedropper you can use to get HTML or RGB colours from anywhere on your screen.
- Ruler - written in .NET, with full source avaliable on CodePlex.com. Use this handly utility to measure anything on your screen to the pixel. Tip: hold down CTRL and/or SHIFT to move/resize the ruler pixel by pixel
- TextPad - a great text editior for quickly viewing or modifying code files - has excellent colour coding for just about every type of code file via downloadable syntax defination files. See their website for more details.
Obviously these tools are complimentary to the main program that I develop in - Visual Studio 2005. For those wanting to experiment with developing in ASP.NET without having the expense of purchasing Visual Studio, make sure you check out these free 'express editions':
Hope you find these programs as useful as we do! If you have something to add here yourself, just add a comment.
