Download windows vista driver for logitech mx700

Here's how to get all the buttons of your Logitech MX700 working on Windows Vista.  I love my Logitech MX700 which I've had since 2001!  When I upgraded to a new Asus G1 running Windows Vista Ultimate I was dissapointed to find that Logitech won't be supporting their MouseWare software on win Vista.  Here's how I got it working...

WARNING: Users have reported that this does NOT work for Vista 64bit - don't even try!

  1. Download the mouseware driver/software package for WinXp here
  2. Extract all files using Winrar to a folder - tip, make sure this is on your local drive (not a network drive/share) so that you can run it in compatibility mode (see below)
  3. Open the folder and right click on the setup icon and choose properties
  4. Select the compatibility tab
  5. Put a check in the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
  6. In the drop down list select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)"
  7. Hit Apply and then OK
  8. Now double click the setup icon to install Mouseware
  9. Follow the prompts to install
  10. After completion, you will be prompted to configure the mouse. You will see the mouse icon in your system try and you can set the buttons as desired.

Hope this helps someone!

Tim

Re: Logitech MX700 driver for Windows Vista

Glad it's helped you guys! What I really like about this mouse is how comfortable / ergonomic it is. Mice that aren't right or left hand specific are just wrong!

Re: Logitech MX700 driver for Windows Vista

On Vista Ultimate 64, the install abort --> "Our software cannot run on your system"

Re: Logitech MX700 driver for Windows Vista

Does't work on Vista Ultimate x64. Istall went fine but after restart rundll32 generated an exception, and uninstall (!) said 'Uninstallation can't find standard mouse driver "i8042prt.sys" in windows system directory. So you can't uninstall this software.' Pretty thing! What should I do now? SetPoint doesn't support MX700 yet and now I cannot uninstall MouseWare which doesn't work! :(

Re: Logitech MX700 driver for Windows Vista

Thanks for pointing out that this doesn't work on Vista 64bit - I will add a warning to the top of this blog post to let future punters know!

Re: Logitech MX700 driver for Windows Vista

Just one word at the end. Interesting sentence on Logitech forum: "I would say that most experienced users of Vista 64-bit expect that they will have to upgrade to the latest hardware when they select this OS to upgrade to." Here you can find why *may* not be supported your legacy hardware by Vista x64 (http://forums.logitech.com/logitech/board/message?board.id=quickcam_software&thread.id=19495)

Re: Logitech MX700 driver for Windows Vista

Hey CHAMPDOR did you find a solution for your problem? i'm having the same dificulties as you. 'Uninstallation can't find standard mouse driver "i8042prt.sys" in windows system directory." What to do next?
Loigtech's manual REGEDIT unstall tips doesn't do the trick in Vista 64... :(

Re: Logitech MX700 driver for Windows Vista

Thanks a lot! Does any one know how to change assignment from " Quick switch" to vista flip? That would be awesome.

Re: Logitech MX700 driver for Windows Vista

AWESOME! AFter being told three times 'our software won't run on your system' this worked! The mouse was already working, but there was no program to change any of the settings. Now there is! Thank you!! Any suggestions for the keyboard?
I also love my MX700 and the keyboard that came with it. So much, in fact, I went to ebay and bought FOUR brand new ones in the box. I and all my computers are set for life! From Windows 98 to Vista and everything in-between. Thanks!!!
