Burn Queue terms
The plain-English rules for pitching to the Burn Queue and for projects we pick. Last updated 16 October 2026.
1. A curated selection, not a sale
The Burn Queue is how NetPotential Limited (“we”) spends spare AI capacity. Applying is free and puts no obligation on you or on us. We choose which pitches to build, at our discretion, based on how interesting they are, the good they do and the capacity we have that week. Most pitches are not picked, and some weeks we pick none. Applying does not reserve a place, a date or a price. We consider each pitch for up to three months; after that, you are welcome to pitch again.
2. How the discount works
- Standard price means what we would charge for the same agreed scope at our published prices and normal rates (see our pricing page). Every Burn Queue quote shows the standard price and your burn price side by side, in writing.
- Picked commercial projects get 50% off the standard price: websites from $499 (standard from $999), online stores from $1,499 (from $2,995) and apps from $2,499 (from $4,990).
- Registered charities and genuine not-for-profit or community organisations get 75% off: from $249, $749 and $1,249. We may ask for your charity or society number or other evidence, and apply the commercial discount if the organisation does not qualify. “Up to 75% off” refers to this rate.
- Prices shown with “from” are starting prices for the smallest scope. Bigger scopes cost more, at the same discount: for example, a $25,000 app build would be $12,500, or $6,250 for a charity.
- For large builds we may pick part of the work, such as a first stage, at the burn rate. Your quote says exactly which parts are discounted; anything else is at the standard price or as quoted.
- The discount applies to the build only. Hosting, care plans, domains and third-party costs (such as app or plugin subscriptions) are at their normal prices.
- The discount cannot be combined with other offers, is not transferable, and has no cash value.
- All prices are in New Zealand dollars and exclude GST.
3. Scope, price and our standard terms
Before any work starts we agree a written scope and a fixed price. The scope is a first version: what we agree, built well. Anything beyond it is priced separately at our normal rates, and you decide whether to go ahead. Once you accept the scope, our terms of service apply to the build, and our hosting terms apply if we host it. Hosting and care are charged at our normal prices.
4. Timing
Burn Queue builds use only the capacity left over after paying client work, so they sit at the bottom of our queue every week. There is no fixed delivery date unless we agree one in writing.
- Selection is ongoing: in a given week we may pick a new project, keep working on one already picked, or pick nothing.
- A picked project may be built over several weeks or months, a little each week. In busy weeks it may pause entirely and resume when capacity frees up.
- We will keep you told how it is going, and we need you to give feedback within a day or two while we build.
- If you need a firm date, we can quote it at our standard prices instead.
5. We talk about it openly
Showing the work is part of the deal, and it promotes you too. If we pick your project, you agree that we may talk about it openly on LinkedIn, our website, our blog, social media, case studies, talks and other marketing, at any time, including:
- your name or your organisation’s name, logo and website address
- the idea, the problem it solves and who it is for
- what we built, how we built it and the tools and AI agents we used
- how long it took, from pitch to live
- screenshots, screen recordings and video of the finished work and the build
- the price you paid under the Burn Queue
We will never publish private or confidential information: your customers’ or members’ personal information, passwords or keys, financial records, internal documents, or anything you tell us in writing is confidential. If something about your project is sensitive, say so in your pitch or before we start, and we will keep it out.
We ask picked charities and not-for-profits to share the story with their supporters, so other good causes hear about the Burn Queue.
6. Your idea
Your idea stays yours. We will not share your pitch outside NetPotential without your permission, except as described in section 5 for a project we build with you. Many ideas are similar, so applying does not stop us building something similar for someone else, but we will never use your pitch to do it.
7. Your information
We handle what you send us as set out in our privacy policy, including keeping your application in our customer relationship system and a short interview by text or email from our AI agent if you are shortlisted.
8. Changes
We may change or end the Burn Queue at any time. Changes do not affect a project whose scope and price we have already agreed in writing.
