FM.video: the world's radio, watchable

FM.video turns live radio airplay from 224 stations in 17 countries into continuous, ad-free music video channels - a mobile-first web app that installs like a native app and keeps working offline. It is also the platform whose entire social presence is generated from data and posted on timers: several videos a day, with nobody editing and nobody scheduling.

The idea

Radio already solves music discovery: real stations, programmed by real people, playing what's genuinely hot in each country. FM.video makes that watchable. A scraper polls 224 stations on a 60-second loop and writes every play to a database; a matcher attaches the best official music video to every song through YouTube's official Data API; and the web app turns each station into a continuous video channel - free, no signup, made in NZ.

The result feels like flipping between MTV channels from a dozen countries, driven by live airplay rather than an algorithm.

FM.video on a phone
An app without an app store

FM.video is a Progressive Web App: it installs to the home screen on iPhone and Android, opens full screen, keeps working offline through service-worker caching, and sends push notifications through infrastructure we own - no per-message SaaS fees. It also targets TVs. One codebase, every screen.

Deploys are blue/green: a new version builds and warms alongside the old one, then traffic flips. Users never see a deploy.

The channel that posts itself

FM.video's social presence runs end to end on timers - the strongest proof we can offer that content automation is real, because we run it on our own brand every day.

01

Live data in

Every play from 224 stations lands in the database; the rolling 24-hour chart is the trend source - what's genuinely hot right now, from real airplay.

02

Rendered on brand

A reel factory renders 9:16 video through branded React templates: top tens, scroll feeds, visualisers, showreels. The brand system is encoded in the templates, so every render is on-brand by construction.

03

One hero reel a day

At 6am a themed hero reel renders off a weekly calendar with a no-repeat rule - no format runs twice in a week.

04

Posted per platform

TikTok gets 2-3 posts a day in jittered slots; YouTube Shorts gets a daily batch through the official API; Facebook and Instagram get a planned weekly grid posted through the CRM. Each platform has its own lane, calendar and ceiling.

05

The library compounds

Every render is kept in a browsable library and reused across promos and evergreen slots. The asset base only grows.
